Digital Student ID Card: What It Is and How It Works
A student ID card used to be a laminated photo that nobody checked. A digital student ID proves who the student is, checks them in, and works on a phone or a tap card. Here is how it works with mySmartAccessCard.
A paper ID card can be copied, lent or lost, and it does not record anything. A digital student ID is linked to the student's own account, so every time it is used the school knows exactly who it was and when.
Two forms of the same ID
| Form | Best for |
|---|---|
| QR code in the app | Students with their own phone. The code is shown on screen and scanned. |
| Physical NFC card | Younger students, or anyone without a phone. They tap the card on a phone or reader. |
What students use it for
- Checking in and out at the school gate.
- Checking in to class.
- Proving who they are on school trips and events.
