How Do I Know My Child Got to School Safely?
You drop your child at the gate, or put them on the school bus, and then you go to work and hope. Here is how parents in Nigeria get a text the moment their child walks into school, and another if they never arrive.
Every parent knows the feeling. The child is out of sight, the day has started, and the only way to be sure they are in school is to call the school, which nobody has time for. If your child's school uses mySmartAccessCard, you do not have to wonder.
What you get as a parent
| When | What you get |
|---|---|
| Your child walks in | An SMS saying your child has arrived, with the time. |
| They have not arrived by the cut-off time | An SMS the same morning saying they have not checked in. |
| They leave school | An SMS when they check out. |
| Someone collects them | An alert saying who collected them and when. |
How the school knows
Each student has a SmartAccess card or a QR code. They tap or scan it at the gate or in class, and the time is saved straight away. Nobody can answer "present" for a friend, because the check-in comes from the child's own card.
How to get these texts
- 1Your child's school needs to be on mySmartAccessCard. If it is not, show them this page.
- 2The school gives you a guardian code to link your phone to your child. See how guardian linking works.
- 3Turn on SMS alerts for your child, NGN 2,000 for 90 days.
You can also see every check-in in the parent app, and get absence texts on days your child does not arrive.
