School Gate Visit Log: Every Arrival and Departure Recorded

Attendance status tells you if a student was present, late, or absent. It does not tell you who actually scanned them in, or when they physically left the building. That is a separate record — and mySmartAccessCard keeps both.

Attendance status — present, late, absent — answers one question. "Who tapped this student in, and at exactly what time, and who tapped them out again" answers a different one. mySmartAccessCard keeps both, because schools eventually need the second answer too: a parent asking exactly when their child left, a security review of who was on gate duty during an incident, an audit of whether the same staff member is always the one recording departures.

What's recorded on every gate tap

  • The student scanned, arrival or departure
  • The exact timestamp of the scan
  • The staff member who performed the scan

Independent of the attendance record

The visit log is stored separately from the attendance-status record, so a school always has both the summary (present/late/absent) and the raw, timestamped detail behind it. If a parent's question is more specific than "was my child marked present" — like "what time did they actually walk out the gate" — the school has an actual answer, not a guess.

A complete gate record, automatically. See mySmartAccessCard for schools or register your school.
